Oppose the Melksham bypass before 8th August!

A new bypass for Melksham has been proposed that will completely destroy the countryside in the Seend valley and have a highly detrimental impact on the K&A canal environment. Mead Lane Map

Here we publish a map of the mooring area at Mead Lane that shows the 14-day area and the 48 hour moorings that have been removed and are now a ‘nature area’.

Maybe it’s time for us to start a Mead Lane channel, no sooner has a major victory been won as BANES are advised by the Judge that they would likely lose a judicial review than the residents take the law into their own hands again.

Boaters can now moor for 14 days at Mead Lane all year

Following a legal challenge by a boater to the decision by BaNES Council to close the moorings at Mead Lane, Saltford, on the River Avon between November and March, boaters can now moor at Mead Lane for 14 days all year round. The river bank there is owned by BaNES.

CRT makes minor concessions on Licence Terms and Conditions

CRT has made minor changes to the new Boat Licence Terms and Conditions (T&C) in response to the Pre-Action protocol letter of 31st May 2021 sent by the National Bargee Travellers Association (NBTA), but has not altered its position on the major issues that were challenged.

Coal boat Aquilon for sale as going concern

The coal boat Aquilon, run by Spencer and Victoria Collins of The Boatyard, Hilperton, is for sale as a going concern after eight years of trading. The boatyard and chandlery will continue trading as normal.
