CRT is currently attempting to re-brand itself as an organisation promoting well-being. The purpose of the re-branding is to raise funds from local authorities and the NHS for the promotion of health and well-being of the general population. However CRT appears to have no intention of safeguarding the well-being of boat dwellers, even vulnerable ones.
The recent eviction by CRT of a 67 year old pensioner in London shows this, as does the continuing onslaught of enforcement against liveaboard boaters without a home mooring. This is especially obvious in CRT’s disregard for the well-being of school age boater children whose parents are being forced to travel distances that mean they have long, exhausting journeys to school, putting families under unacceptable stress and expense, affecting their educational progress and damaging their health. Government guidance states that younger children should not have a journey of more than two miles to and from school.
