CRT’s review of visitor moorings between Devizes and Reading has now finished and the proposals for change have been finalised. A 12-month trial/ consultation period has begun. If any changes have an adverse effect on liveaboard boaters it’s really important that we make this clear to CRT. Send your comments to CRT or make a formal complaint.

CRT is currently carrying out a review of the visitor moorings between Devizes and Reading in a consultation exercise in which most of the user groups of the K&A are represented. Five meetings were held between August 2017 and March 2018. Proposals for any changes are due to be finalised this month, April 2018, and trialled for 12 months. During the trial, all boaters will have an opportunity to comment on the changes.
Yesterday (16th August 2017) CRT seized a boat that was a vulnerable person’s home using its powers under Sections 8 and 13 of the British Waterways Acts 1983 and 1971. The boat was craned out at Devizes Wharf at 11am and taken to an unknown location by road. There were 8 bailiffs and enforcement staff present.
UPDATE: It has been reported that the evicted person is now sleeping rough.
