K&A User Forum, 24th January, Devizes

There will be a Kennet & Avon Canal User Forum on Wednesday 24th January 2024 from 10:30 to 12:30. The in-person forum will be held at the St James Centre, Estcourt Crescent, Devizes, Wiltshire, SN10 1LR. CRT’s Sarah Cook says “Please join us for some short presentations, have your questions answered and an opportunity to talk to us directly.”

Boaters’ meeting to discuss licence fee surcharge, 15th October, Bradford on Avon

There will be a boaters’ meeting to discuss the CRT surcharges for boats without a home mooring; lack of facilities; lack of waterway maintenance and other issues that affect the community of liveaboard boaters on the K&A, and what we can do to protect our way of life.

The meeting will take place at 5pm on Sunday 15th October 2023 at the Wallington Hall, Church St, Bradford on Avon BA15 1LN. Church St is opposite the Dandy Lion pub; the hall used to be called the Masonic Hall or the Church Hall.

K&A online User Forum, 4th Nov, 6pm

CRT is holding an online Kennet and Avon User Forum on Thursday 4th November at 6pm-7pm. The second half of the session will be a question and answer session. If you have a question you can raise it on the day but CRT also asks people to submit questions by email beforehand no later than Wednesday 27th October. Canal & River Trust (CRT) is holding its Annual Public Meeting in Birmingham on Wednesday 26th September 2018 at 10:30 to 12:30. All boat licence holders, customers, waterway users and members of the public can attend. The meeting will be held at the Kingston Theatre, Austin Court, 80 Cambridge Street, Birmingham B1 2NP.

Seend stoppage to overrun

Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

CRT has informed boaters that the stoppage at Seend, where the waterway has been closed since 22nd November 2015 to repair Seend Wharf Bridge, will not re-open until 23rd March, 12 days longer than planned. The road will not open until 6th May.

Caen Hill passable with care but summit closed

CRT announced today (27th October) that the Caen Hill flight will be open while CRT repair the towpath between locks 48 and 49 but lock 50 will be padlocked at 4pm each day until repairs are complete to prevent further vandalism.

Parties boat work – rearrange these words

The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust has resumed regular work parties in the Bradford on Avon area with the workboat Vale of Pewsey. Volunteers are welcome to join the crew.

If it’s broken – report it!

Boaters met with Mark Stephens, the K and A Manager, a few months ago and discussed many issues about facilities and maintenance. There is now a phone number to report breakages and other problems with water taps, sanitary facilities, rubbish bins etc. The number is 01380 722859.
