BaNES invites liveaboards to participate in focus group for waterway users, 5th or 7th September, Bath

The BaNES Water Space Partnership (BaNES Council, CRT, Environment Agency and Wessex Water) has commissioned a study looking at the use of the River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal within the BaNES area (Hanham to Dundas), and identifying ways in which facilities and services for waterway users can be improved.

As part of this the company working on the project, Atkins, are hosting two focus groups in which representatives of different types of user will be asked to explore the issues they face in making use of the waterways.

BaNES agrees to meet liveaboards and launches survey of boaters’ needs

BaNES Council has agreed to meet boat dwellers without home moorings to discuss the need for boaters to be directly represented on the Committees tasked with making decisions about the joint BaNES – CRT mooring strategy covering the River Avon and the Kennet and Avon Canal to Limpley Stoke.

CRT moorings consultation sparks angry petition

CRT is holding another consultation on methods for allocation of its directly managed moorings, but despite the previous consultation in 2008 showing overwhelming opposition to the principle of an auction system, it is refusing to even consider abandoning the auctions. In addition, the consultation only runs for one month, in contravention of the law on consultations. If you oppose the mooring auctions, please respond to the consultation before 3rd November expressing your opposition. Send your response to mooring.updates@canalrivertrust.org.uk. Or make a formal complaint.

Interim 12-month local plan for western K&A starts today

The interim 12-month local plan for the K&A between Bath and Foxhangers starts today, 1st May 2014. We publish the information that was emailed to boaters on the K&A yesterday below and we will publish our analysis of the legality of this plan soon.

Consultation summary published: CRT propose to change Local Waterway Partnership proposals despite strong support

A summary and report on the responses to the consultation on the Towpath Mooring Plan for the K&A west of Devizes was published by CRT yesterday. This showed that those who responded to the consultation strongly support the proposals.

K&A mooring consultation: only three weeks until deadline

Mooring strategy consultation starts today – boaters meetings planned

The consultation on the local mooring strategy for the Kennet and Avon west of Devizes will run from today Friday 30th August 2013 until Friday 29th November 2013. Electronic copies of the consultation response form will be sent to all holders of boat licences who are on the K&A where CRT holds their email address. Where no email contact exists CRT has agreed to send a paper copy to the address that you use for your boat licence.  If you don’t receive a copy, paper copies will also be available from the following places:
