Partnership Board to form committee on mooring strategy

There have been further developments regarding the local mooring strategy at the Kennet and Avon Local Waterways Partnership Board. 

BW release draft mooring strategy proposals

BW recently released a draft summary of the Local Mooring Strategy proposals to the Steering Group and the representatives of unaffiliated boaters on the Group responded to these draft proposals this week. BW has asked for responses from Steering Group members prior to putting the finalised proposals out to consultation. Watch out for boaters’ meetings soon to make sure you have your say about it. BW’s summary of the proposals and the unaffiliated boaters’ response is below.

All liveaboard boaters invited to take part in Wiltshire Council project

Wiltshire Council is running a new project called ‘Boaters’ Voices’. It is part of ‘Wiltshire Voices’ which aims to raise awareness of the needs and rights of under-represented groups in Wiltshire. All liveaboard boaters are invited to be part of this project if you are in Wiltshire either temporarily or permanently. If you want to take part, please come to a meeting and hot supper on Monday 27thFebruary, 6.30-8.30pm at the Corn Exchange, Market Place, Devizes.

New job for Damian Kemp

Damian Kemp, BW’s Project Officer who chaired the Local Mooring Strategy Steering Group and did the legwork for the 2009 consultations on National Mooring Policy, Local Mooring Strategies and the now discredited Lee and Stort Moorings Managament Plan, has a new job.

Now, I know that lots of you will be disappointed, you were hoping for some thorns of you own. Well, don’t worry, these were only the thorns collected between the George and A36 by our Creative Correspondent, there are lots more between Bath and Bradford. Simply cycle along there and you’re sure to be lucky enough to get some home with you.
