George Gibson RIP

It is with great sadness we report that the wonderful and well loved Honeystreet based surveyor George Gibson died on July 5th.

One time Boat Safety Examiner – “in case of fire you’d be out of there with an axe” – as well as boat surveyor, George gave up the BSS when the registration got too expensive.

He was a campaigner and figure on the Kennet and Avon ever since the earliest days of its restoration and his Gibson’s Boat Services at Honeystreet was a welcome stop for all boaters in the long pound.

A full obituary of George by Bob Naylor can be found on the KAcanalTimes

George’s funeral is on Monday 15th July at 2.30pm in St. Mary’s Church, Alton Barnes, Near Marlborough, SN8  4LR.
