Save The Barge Inn (Honeystreet) Community Benefit Gig, 31st March

There will be a benefit gig to raise funds towards the community buyout of the Barge Inn, Honeystreet at 6pm on Saturday 31st March 2018, at the Bouverie Hall, North St, Pewsey SN9 5EQ. Tickets cost a minimum £5 donation on the door.

Urban Lions, Boothill Allstars and Tripolar will play live, with Lionheart Records, Malfunktion Soundsystem and Earth’s Radicals: all old Barge Inn favourites. There will be a bar with beer, lager, cider, soft drinks, wine and a limited range of popular spirits and mixers. All proceeds will go towards the Save The Barge campaign. There will also be a raffle: prizes are listed here http://www.thebargehoneystreet.co.uk/raffle-prizes/. There will be burgers and hot dogs, including vegan options, and in true Barge Inn style, glittery face painting.

A co-operative was formed after the pub was put up for sale in January 2018. The Barge Co-Operative now has the option to buy the pub, but first it needs to raise enough funds for a survey and legal fees to assess whether it is feasible to do so. The Barge Inn is registered as an Asset of Community Value, with support from Alton Parish Council.

The Barge Inn Co-Operative

One of the supporters says “The Barge Inn was an amazing venue in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. Made famous by the international crop circle community, the bands that have played there, the camp site’s mini festival vibe and the canal dwelling boating and music loving communities, the Barge Inn was a very special venue in a truly magical setting in the heart of the Pewsey Vale and became a unique imprint in the culture of Wiltshire and beyond. People came from all over the world to experience the magic Vale vibe, to dance to the bands, to sample the beer, to camp in the field and tell stories around the fire pit”. The pub was built at the same time as the K&A canal and has served a number of purposes including slaughterhouse and bakery.

The co-operative aims to buy the pub and run it with music, camp site and a friendly atmosphere once again. For more information see
