BaNES to hold consultation sessions on towpath upgrade

CRT to review winter moorings following chaos of new system

CRT has informed one of its winter moorings customers that it is going to re-think its new system for winter moorings. The customer in question has not actually been able to use their winter mooring permit because they have not found anywhere that is not excluded from the system.

BaNES Council report condemns CRT failure to meet equalities obligations

A report published by Bath and NE Somerset Council has recommended that the Council should not endorse the CRT Local Mooring Strategy for the western K&A unless and until the Council is satisfied that it is compliant with CRT’s legal obligations under the Equality Act and the Mooring Strategy will not conflict with Council policy.

Hire boats burgled at Avoncliff

Saturday, March 30th, 2013

Two Oxfordshire Narrowboats hire boats were broken into at Avoncliff in the early evening after dark yesterday and valuables including laptops were stolen. The spate of boat burglaries has continued but boaters have reported more information to the police about suspicious activity along the canal.

BaNES seeks to prevent CRT taking ‘draconian’ action against liveaboard boaters

When making arrangements for a meeting between BaNES Council and Sally Ash and Damian Kemp of BW in December 2011, one of the Council’s housing officers said in an email that “We .. have on-going concerns regarding their appreciation of the potential impact of the proposed moorings strategy (ie homelessness, access to education/services etc).”

Jenks facilities to close

Jenkyn Knill has contacted us to say that as of 1st July 2011 Hampton Wharf services will no longer be available for general use. Because of the age of the sewer and associated problems, Jenks has decided that the pump out needs to be moved to a different location. Please contact him if you have any queries.

Impact Assessment Questionnaire

This questionnaire is being carried out by liveaboard boaters as part of the Equality Impact Assessment of the Local Mooring Strategy proposals for the western Kennet and Avon canal (Bath to Devizes). The purpose of this questionnaire is to find out what impact the proposed mooring restrictions will have on liveaboard boaters – most of whom don’t have moorings.
