Please tell West Berkshire Council boaters need a water tap in Newbury

Newbury is a water and sanitation facilities desert, and boaters have been lobbying CRT to install a water tap. CRT had been planning to install a water tap outside the Tesco supermarket which is next to the River Kennet below Greenham lock 86.

Smoke Control Area planned for boats in Bath – please complete survey

STOP PRESS BaNES Council has clarified that it has not made any firm decisions about extending the city centre Smoke Control Area to boats moored in the city. If this does go ahead, the Council will carry out a public consultation as it is required to do by the Environment Act 2021.

Please complete CRT census by end of September – here’s why, and here are the questions

Please complete the CRT census! Why? Because it is a chance to set out to CRT any issues you have faced due to being a liveaboard boater and – importantly – to highlight where CRT’s enforcement policy, especially the 20 mile range requirement, interferes with basic parts of life such as putting children through school, getting and keeping a job or caring for an elderly or disabled relative. If enough people use the census to tell CRT of their experiences then this will create a powerful platform to lobby CRT for change.
