Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service’s boat fire safety advisor Rob Buckland is out on the K and A in Wiltshire this week offering free smoke detectors and fire safety advice. This is the first time the Fire Service has done this in winter.
Rob used to live on a narrowboat so he’s well qualified to give advice on issues such as smoke alarms, solid fuel stoves, cooking, fuel storage and general fire safety on boats. He says: “At this time of the year families living aboard their boats will be storing more fuel so the risk of fire is increased. I’ll be giving advice on fuel storage as well as general fire safety guidance”. He will install smoke detectors free of charge.
For boat fire safety advice or to request a visit call Rob on 07734 483880 or email rob.buckland@wiltsfire.gov.uk
