Although personal details gathered by the census are exempt from Freedom of Information, other aspects of the census are included, and so this FOI request went to the Office for National Statistics recently: “Please treat this request for information as a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Please can you provide me with all information you hold regarding the steps that were taken by the Office for National Statistics and/or the 2011 Census to ensure that boat dwellers in the UK (people who live on boats) were able to receive and complete a 2011 census form.
Please include all information regarding the efforts made by ONS and/or the 2011 Census to distribute census forms to people living on boats which are on permanent moorings and to people living on boats which are not permanently moored.”
We’ll let you know what they tell us.
