Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is to hold an exercise on at Horton on Sunday 12th October to sharpen firefighters’ skills in dealing with boat fires. The exercise will also include one of the K&A Canal Trust’s trip boats with 30 passengers plus the ambulance and police services. The Fire Service has recently begun boat fire safety visits along the canal again. Devizes Fire Station manager Darren Nixon said that the exercise aimed to build on firefighters’ understanding of the challenges involved with incidents on the canal.
