According to a reliable source, BANES Councillor Ian Dewey, who has done so much harm by perpetuating prejudice against liveaboard boaters within the Council and associated Parish Councils, is to step down this May. Councillor Dewey, who lives very close to the canal in Bathampton, will not seek re-election. He is the councillor for Bathavon North which includes Bathampton and Bathford. He was a key mover in the 2009 meetings between Bathampton Parish Council and BW which tried to impose draconian mooring restrictions without any involvement or consultation with local liveaboard boaters or with national boating organisations such as NABO and RBOA.

Pete and ian for bathampton !
Peter Wells for President!!
Thank goodness for small mercies, its a sorry state when someone who is supposed to represent democracy becomes NIMBY to suit their own personal needs. Dewey should have passed the consultation hat over to an independant councillor.
