The next meeting of the K&A Boaters’ Action Group will be on Monday August 14th 2017 at 7.30pm at the Brewery Inn, 69 Seend Cleeve, SN12 6PX – a short walk up the hill from locks 18 and 19. All are welcome. This meeting will focus on CRT’s consultation on changes to boat licensing. We also have 6 Boat Fire Safety Packs to give away (we can get more if people need them).
The final stage of the licensing consultation is due to start later in August. The proposals will affect all of us. If you live aboard, this is important and concerns your home. Higher licence fees for boats without a home mooring and higher fees for widebeams have been discussed. CRT has said the proposals will be ‘revenue neutral’ meaning there will be winners and losers. Come and discuss how best to oppose unfair licence fee increases.
The Boaters’ Action Group has a new schedule: meetings are now every 2 months on the second Monday. Next meetings are 9th October 2017, 11th December 2017 and 12th February 2018. There may be extra meetings if needed.
Also, please come to the meeting if you need any information about CRT enforcement against boaters without home moorings or if you need advice about CRT enforcement letters, texts or emails.
The Boaters’ Action Group aims to defend and promote the boating community on the K&A. Please contact info@boatingcommunity.org.uk or 07928 078208. We look forward to seeing you on 14th August.
