Only three days left to object to Ferry Lane parking restrictions

It has emerged that BaNES Council is proposing parking restrictions and parking bans along Ferry Lane, Claverton. Some areas of the lane are proposed to be ‘no parking at any time’ and others are proposed to be time-limited with penalties. The deadline for objections is 31st March 2022.

The proposals are for “Extension of the existing No Parking At Any Time restrictions and a new Restricted Parking Zone created along Ferry Lane permitting parking in marked bays only by introducing No Parking / No Loading At Any Time restrictions. These were requested by the Senior Traffic Management Engineer and the police to prevent obstruction of the highway by parked vehicles who currently park on the existing Double Yellow Lines markings.

Please object on the grounds that the needs of liveaboard boaters without a home mooring have not been considered, and that due to CRT’s harsh enforcement policy of refusing to renew the boat licence if the boater does not travel a range of 20 miles in their licence period, many more liveaboard boaters now need to use cars to enable them to both get to work and to make sure they do not lose their homes, which can be seized if they do not comply.

To object, send an email to traffic_managementteam@bathnes.gov.uk quoting the title of the scheme: (Various Roads in North East Somerset) (Prohibition and Restriction of Parking and Loading) (No Stopping on Entrance Markings) (Authorised and Designated Parking Places) (Variation No.9) Order 2022 and the reference 22-001.
