The General Election will take place on Thursday 4th July, and the polls will be open from 7am – 10pm. Register by 18th June if you want to vote.
You can vote even if you live on a boat without a fixed address, by declaring a “local connection” to the place you are currently moored in or spend a lot of your time in. If you have a “care of” address, you do not have to use that address to register to vote. You need photo ID to vote – see below.
If you are registering to vote by declaring a local connection, you cannot register online. You have to register on a paper form and either post or deliver it by hand to the local Electoral Registration Office. You can download the form for printing here

You have until 5pm on 19th June to apply for a postal vote. Postal vote packs are sent out around 10 days before polling day. See
https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
You have until 5pm on 26th June to apply for a proxy vote (for someone to vote on your behalf)
https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
If you don’t have the right photo ID, you have until 5pm on 26th June to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. See
https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
You need to show photo ID to vote at polling stations in the General Election. Accepted forms of photo ID include passports, photographic driving licences, biometric immigration documents, and certain concessionary travel passes. Your photo ID does not have to show an address in the same place as your “local connection”, or any address at all. See
