There will be a skip at the car park by Hilperton Marsh bridge (165) from this Friday 9th to Monday 12th February 2018. It is for bulky rubbish from boats on the towpath and moored at Hilperton Marsh Farm, and it will also be used to dispose of rubbish cleared by the Boaters’ Towpath Tidy this Sunday 11th February.
If you want to join the Towpath Tidy, please meet at Semington Bridge (160) at 11.30 am for an 11.45 am start. We aim to litterpick between Seend Park swing bridge (155) and Hilperton Marina. This is around a 3.5 mile stretch so we will need lots of people!
Please do not dispose of hazardous waste in the skip. It is for bulky non hazardous materials only, not for old oil or batteries. If the skip gets filled please can people not leave items of rubbish around it. The skip is provided by the waterway manager for the K&A, Mark Evans, following discussions about the scarcity of rubbish disposal facilities on the canal; more skips will be provided from time to time at different places. This a great opportunity to empty your boat of larger household items and strip down for DIY. And please join in with the Towpath Tidy!
(Please note that the car park is private, for use by moorers at Marsh Farm only.)
