The RBOA rep for the eastern K&A, Jane Pollard, has had discussions with PC Teresa Herbert of Wiltshire Police. Jane says “PC Herbert is very keen to establish an efficient means of communication along her patch of the canal – mainly Bedwyn to Devizes – but there is an officer coordinating all issues along the length of the canal too. She suggested possible local meetings and realises that there is not sufficient policing of the canal. She wants to improve this.”

PC Herbert also wishes to share the following information about thefts near the canal:
Several vehicles were broken into at Wilton Windmill during the afternoon of 21st April and another incident occurred between 1544 and 1645 hours on 24th April 2013 at Martinsel Hill, Wootton Rivers.
Observations are requested for two males who were seen looking into vehicles at the Wharf car park in Great Bedwyn at approximately 1600 hours on 24th April before making off when disturbed; White ethnicity, aged 40s and 50s, using a blue Ford Fiesta, part index V827, with a sticker on the rear windscreen ’Powered by fairy dust’.
Please report any sightings of the above vehicle via 101, (storm log 185/24/04 refers) and any concerns regarding persons or vehicles seen acting suspiciously.
A theft of heating oil has occurred at Little Bedwyn, prior to 24th April. Other recent incidents have occurred in Chisbury and Great Bedwyn. Please be vigilant and consider target hardening measures to your oil tanks such as building a structure around it, fitting an alarm and improving security to your garden.
