Saturday, November 24th, 2012The K&A Local Waterways Partnership Moorings Sub-Group has held two meetings so far, on 26th October and 19th November. It is due to carry out a final review of the proposed mooring plan before putting it out to consultation to the organisations and communities represented in the Sub-Group.
Permission refused for Judicial Review of Guidance for Boaters without a Home Mooring
Tuesday, November 20th, 2012Nick Brown of the National Bargee Travellers Association had his application for a Judicial Review of the Guidance for Boaters without Home Moorings refused by Mrs Justice Cox on 16th November. Costs of £15,000 were awarded.
Nick Brown has announced his intention to appeal against the judgement.

Enforcement team job descriptions published
Wednesday, November 7th, 2012Following a Freedom of Information request via www.whatdotheyknow.com, a boater has obtained the job descriptions and person specifications for most of the CRT/ BW enforcement team, apart from the job description for Enforcement and Licensing Manager Denise Yelland. This includes information about the numbers of staff in each position in different waterway areas.
K and A boaters’ action group meeting 12th Nov, Devizes
Wednesday, November 7th, 2012The next meeting of the K and A boaters’ action group will be on Monday 12th November at 7.30pm in a pub in Devizes. If you have time to do some work over the next few months (or longer) defending our rights as liveaboards; doing constructive things like towpath tidies; engaging in dialogue with CRT etc, then we would like you to be in the group.

Monday, November 5th, 2012There will be a towpath tidy this Saturday 10th November, organised by boaters. Please meet at Dundas wharf at 9.45am for a 10am start. The Kennet and Avon Canal Trust volunteers are also helping with this, and we will be using their work boat Vale of Pewsey to move the rubbish. Bring warm clothes, and work gloves if you have them – we have some gloves to lend as well. Rubbish bags will be provided.
