Professor Richard Yarwood (Plymouth University) and Dr Agatha Herman (Cardiff University) are carrying out research into Canal boat dwelling: Homes, Welfare and Mobile Citizenship on Britain’s Canals. They are particularly interested in issues around homes, families, welfare and citizenship and they would love to hear your stories as these will help them better understand the benefits and challenges you experience.

Got a wheelbarrow? Must be a continuous moorer!

According to a certain online narrowboat blog, if you have a wheelbarrow or a bicycle, you’re a continuous moorer. If you have no home mooring you are a continuous moorer. And a river being in flood is no reason to come on to the canal for safety.

Dead Rat Orchestra brings “The Cut” to the K&A

Innovative folk performers Dead Rat Orchestra are bringing their 2014 show “The Cut” about the songs, sounds and heritage of the canals to the K&A from 10th to 16th August. The Orchestra will visit Crofton, Pewsey, Devizes, Bradford on Avon, Avoncliff, Bath and finally Bristol Harbour where the group’s 273-mile tour of the waterways ends at the Arnolfini Gallery.
