CRT is to contact boaters on the K&A after Easter to inform them of what they need to do to follow the Towpath Mooring Plan. A map and an explanation of how the Towpath Mooring Plan will work will be included. CRT is to start implementing the Plan from 1st May for a trial period of one year. However is not clear what will happen after the trial year.
A recent speech by CRT Trustee John Dodwell suggests that the Towpath Mooring Plan will only operate for a trial year after which CRT will expect all boaters without home moorings throughout the waterways to comply with the same restrictions. A similar statement was made by CRT in its final report on the Towpath Mooring Plan. John Dodwell is a past chairman of the Inland Waterways Association, which is opposed to the interests of liveaboard boaters without home moorings.
