Boaters invited to community defibrillator training, Bedwyn, 15th March

Outreach boat at Darlington Wharf, 6th March – come and fix your bike with help from Julian House bike workshop

The Boaters’ Cafe Club outreach boat will be at Darlington Wharf in Bath next Tuesday 6th March 2018 from 12 noon to 4pm (weather permitting). The main attraction is a bicycle repair workshop where Mark, the mechanic from Julian House Community Bicycle Workshop will help and provide tools for you to fix your bike and teach you some bike repair skills. Also Claire Brown will be aboard conducting a yarn-bombing session.

Boaters clear litter from K&A towpath

A group of 10 live-aboard boaters cleared around 25 bags of litter from the K&A yesterday (Sunday 11th February). The team picked up rubbish from the towpath, hedges and ditches between Semington and Bradford on Avon Marina. The boaters also removed bulky items such as bicycles and rubble.

Meeting to prepare for outcome of CRT licence review, 12th Feb, Semington

The next meeting of the K&A Boaters’ Action Group will be on Monday 12th February 2018 at 7.30pm at the Somerset Arms, High St, Semington BA14 6JR, a 5 minute walk south from the canal bridge. All are welcome. The meeting aims to plan what action to take if CRT announces an increase in licence fees for boats without a home mooring.

Boaters’ towpath tidy, Semington to Hilperton, 11th February

Liveaboard boaters are organising a towpath tidy between Semington and Hilperton on Sunday 11th February 2018. Everyone is welcome. Please join us at the canal bridge at Semington (160) at 11.30 am for an 11.45 am start. We aim to litterpick between Seend Park swing bridge (155) and Hilperton Marina. This is around a 3.5 mile stretch so we will need lots of people!

Spiderman supports the K&A boating community!

We received this message from Pete and Sully in Wootton Rivers a while ago: “It’s not every day you meet a super hero, so imagine our surprise when my grandson came running in telling us Spiderman was on the lock gate at Brimslade. He is obviously on his holidays and supporting the Kennet and Avon boating community in their fight against injustice. Good on him”.

Food banks, food parcels and free hot meals on the K&A

Outreach boat at Bathampton, 5th December

The Boaters’ Cafe Club outreach boat Litania will be at Bathampton Wharf next Tuesday 5th December 2017 from 12 noon to 4pm.

Come and be crafty and make some colourful woolly things to yarnbomb along the canal at a later event in early spring! Clare Brown will be running the workshop, aimed at liveaboard boaters who would like support with wellbeing and mindfulness.
