It’s summer – time to think about making sure your boat is fire safe for next winter! We have 10 Fire Safety packs for boaters who need them, from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service. Call or text 07928 078208 or email info@boatingcommunity.org.uk to arrange to collect one.
The packs contain two smoke alarms, one carbon monoxide alarm, information about how and where to install them, and booklets about fire safety and carbon monoxide safety. In return for your pack, we need your name and a contact number or email, to pass on to the Fire and Rescue Service.
If you would like a Fire Safety check on your boat, contact Karen Pearson at the Fire and Rescue Service on 07515 187345 or karen.pearson@dwfire.org.uk
The Fire and Rescue Service also provide homeless packs – rucksacks with basic equipment to help people who are homeless and sleeping rough. If you know anyone who needs a homeless pack, contact Karen at the Fire and Rescue Service as above.
The Fire and Rescue Service also runs a stall offering public fire safety advice – including boat fire safety – at the Shambles indoor market, Market Place, Devizes on the last Thursday of every month. The next fire safety advice stall in Devizes will be on Thursday 27th July 2017.
