Boaters invited to anti-poverty meeting with MP to raise exclusion from energy bill support

Liveaboard boaters are invited to an event in Pewsey tomorrow, Friday 6th October, where Danny Kruger, the MP for Devizes, Marlborough and Pewsey will be attending. The event is organised by Devizes and District Food Bank, which has supported boaters in our struggle to receive the energy bill support that the Government promised to ‘every household’. Many liveaboard boaters are still excluded, despite the Government decision to pay the grant to boaters licensed by CRT without a home mooring.

Alex Montegriffo of Devizes Food Bank said: “Mr Kruger is fully on board with this campaign, and has met with boaters before and written to the government department who organise funds, but it would be great to have some questions and discussions on the topic, to hear his updates and ask if he would arrange an in-person meeting with the department minister, MP Amanda Solloway.”

The event is at 7:30-8:30/9pm in the Bouverie Hall, Goddard Rd, Pewsey SN9 5EQ on Friday 6th October 2023. Mr Kruger will be speaking about challenging poverty along with someone from Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Citizens Advice. Alex Montegriffo will be on the panel mentioning this campaign, and there will be a Q&A and discussion.
