Boatie band Calico Jack will play at the re-opening of the Cross Guns in Avoncliff, a favourite boaters’ pub, from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday 1st March. Calico Jack are based on the K&A; their accordion-led, stomping folk-fusion grew up around towpath campfires inspired by sea shanties and East European traditional music. The band are regulars on the UK festival circuit. The Cross Guns hosts a singers night every Tuesday, where boaters, folkies and others meet to sing sea shanties and more. Everyone is welcome to join in.
