Appeal to find missing Devizes woman

The police are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a woman who is missing in Devizes. Victoria Clements, 53, has been missing since approximately 1pm on 22nd September 2021 and the police and her friends are concerned for her welfare. She is diabetic. It is believed that she has left the area on foot and that she might have been heading towards more rural locations on the outskirts of the town – so boaters might have seen her on the towpath.

Coal boat Aquilon for sale as going concern

If you’re over 70 and have not been invited for a Covid-19 jab, contact NHS now!

By mid-February 2021 the Government aimed to have all over-70s and people classed as clinically extremely vulnerable given their first of two vaccinations against Covid-19, but told people they should wait to be invited for their appointment. Now, the NHS wants anyone over 70 or clinically extremely vulnerable who has not had their first jab to contact them to get vaccinated.

Coronavirus vaccinations – make sure of your jab by registering with a GP

The invitations to attend Coronavirus vaccination appointments for priority groups, which will include everyone over the age of 50, are being generated from the patient records held by doctors’ surgeries. Liveaboard boaters who are not registered with a GP may find that they are not contacted by the NHS with an invitation to have the Covid-19 vaccination.

Important boaters meeting next Monday 30th November to discuss CRT licence consultation

The K&A Boaters’ Action Group will be holding a telephone meeting on Monday 30th November 2020 at 7.30pm-9.30pm to discuss the current CRT consultation on changes to the Boat Licence Terms and Conditions. We are very concerned that the proposals will have serious implications for all boaters but especially for liveaboards.

K&A Boaters’ Action Group postponed, watch this space for details of virtual meeting

The K&A Boaters’ Action Group meeting that was scheduled for October has been postponed to December 2020, due to current limits on meetings and pub hours. We intend to hold a virtual meeting shortly. This will be either a phone conference or a Zoom meeting. Please watch this space.

Under normal circumstances the group meets in person every 2 months on the second Monday at different places along the K&A. It aims to defend and promote the boating community on the K&A.

Boaters have launched an appeal to raise money to repair singer Angel Nash’s boat after it sank on 15th August after very heavy overnight rain, while she was asleep on board.

Landmark judgement confirms Housing Benefit for boat licence fees

In a landmark judgement issued on 25th June 2020 (AB v London Borough of Camden (HB) [2020] UKUT 158 (AAC)), the Upper Tribunal has confirmed that Housing Benefit is payable for boat licence fees because the boat licence fee if living aboard is rent.
