STOP PRESS BaNES Council has clarified that it has not made any firm decisions about extending the city centre Smoke Control Area to boats moored in the city. If this does go ahead, the Council will carry out a public consultation as it is required to do by the Environment Act 2021.
We have heard that BaNES Council is planning to extend the city centre Smoke Control Area to boats on the Kennet and Avon Canal in the city. Julian House Travelling Communities Support Service has put together a short survey to register how this will affect liveaboard boaters who moor in the Bath area. Julian House has also challenged the Council’s plan to extend the Smoke Control Area without carrying out a public consultation, which it is required to do by the Environment Act 2021.
