Bath and North East Somerset Council is at the early stage of preparing two key strategies for the district – a new Local Plan and an Economic Strategy. These strategies will have significant implications for local communities and stakeholders across the District. The Local Plan will establish the planning framework to guide future change in BaNES up to 2042. It will contain a vision, strategy and policies to guide and manage how the district grows and changes over the next 20 years and how planning applications for new development will be decided.
Your organisation or group has been identified as a key stakeholder within the District, and we therefore want to work closely with you to understand your views on the key issues facing your area, as well as future priorities and opportunities. Your input will be vital in shaping plans for the future of your local area.

We will also hold follow up workshops in June / July 2023 to share evidence we have compiled and to discuss options for the future. Your involvement in these workshops will feed into a formal, District-wide public consultation in autumn next year, relating to which options should be included in the Local Plan.
