National Boats Are Homes demonstration 16th April

On Saturday 16th April there will be a demonstration to demand that CRT:

*stops evicting or threatening to evict boat dwellers without permanent moorings based on their travel pattern, because of an arbitrary and unlawful minimum distance ‘rule’ that has been imposed since last May

*stops imposing 24 hour mooring time limits (the law entitles us to stay 14 days in any one place)

*stops any plans for the sale of our waterways,

and instead takes positive action to:

*maintain the banks and towpaths of the waterways

*install more mooring rings where these are needed and

*install more facilities.

CRT steps up its attack on liveaboards without home moorings

Seend stoppage to overrun

Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

CRT has informed boaters that the stoppage at Seend, where the waterway has been closed since 22nd November 2015 to repair Seend Wharf Bridge, will not re-open until 23rd March, 12 days longer than planned. The road will not open until 6th May.

Fire safety talk and boaters action group, 14th March, Wilcot

The next meeting of the K&A boaters action group will be combined with a Boat Fire Safety talk by Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service on Monday March 14th at 7.30pm at the Golden Swan, Wilcot, near Pewsey, SN9 5NN.

CRT makes assurance that no enforcement action will be taken due to Seend stoppage

The K&A boaters action group has obtained an assurance from CRT that it will not take enforcement action against boaters who are trapped between Lock 11 in Bath and Seend (Semington for 70′ boats) because of the stoppage at Seend Wharf Bridge. CRT has placed certain conditions on this assurance. The stoppage runs until 11th March. This is the letter from CRT Head of Boating Mike Grimes:

CRT election extended to include restricted licence holders

Boaters’ Festive Get Together 12th December, Bath

There will be a family-friendly festive get together for boaters on Saturday 12th December, 3pm-9pm, at the Love Lounge, The Bell Inn, Walcot Street, Bath BA1 5BW. The event will include children’s activities, music, information and discussion about what to do if CRT has refused to renew your boat licence for 12 months. There will be time to socialise and sing a few sea shanties too.
