CRT’s plans for the K&A include more enforcement

CRT’s interim Regional Director for Wales and the South West, Jon Horsfall, confirmed on 18th July 2019 that CRT remains “committed to delivering” the strategic programmes that were devised by former regional director Richard Thomas in conjunction with User Group Forums in 2018 and 2019 and a study day in which the liveaboard boating community was significantly under-represented despite efforts to persuade the former director to include us.

K&A Boaters’ Action Group, 12th August, Honeystreet

The next meeting of the K&A Boaters’ Action Group will be on Monday 12th August 2019 at 7.30pm at the newly-reopened Barge Inn, Honeystreet, SN9 5PS (in the snug bar). All are welcome. The meeting will focus on CRT’s proposals for additional enforcement on the K&A aimed mainly at hire boaters, but which are also likely to impact on liveaboards.

K&A User Group Forum, 5th June, Bradford on Avon

There will be a Kennet and Avon Canal User Group Forum on Wednesday 5th June 2019 between 6pm and 8pm at St Margaret’s Hall, St Margaret’s Street, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1DE. If you wish to raise any issues about enforcement, waterway maintenance, facilities for boaters or other matters, this meeting is an opportunity to do so. It is an open meeting and all waterway users are entitled to attend.

Mead Lane restriction proposals dropped

Following a consultation on a proposed ban on overnight vehicle parking at Mead Lane, Saltford in 2017, on 1st August 2018 BaNES Council released its decision to drop all proposed restrictions. The residents of Mead Lane lobbied the Council for these restrictions, but following objections including by liveaboard boaters BaNES decided that there was no evidence of anti-social behaviour that residents claimed banning overnight parking would deter.
