CRT earlier this year stayed Section 8 cases against two boat dwellers without permanent moorings, Matthew Jones and Christopher McKendrick, following the Court of Appeal judgement in Matthew Jones’s favour on 7th March 2017, we can now reveal. The Consent Order sealed by Bristol County Court on 23rd May 2017 shows that CRT reached a settlement with Matthew Jones. Both Mr Jones and Mr McKendrick have now re-licensed their boats without a permanent mooring. Their homes are not now under threat of being seized by the charity. Both had been deemed by CRT not to have moved “far enough”.

CRT is proposing to increase the cost of a boat licence without a home mooring, so it’s really important that the views of boaters without a home mooring are represented in this consultation.

Sunday, September 24th, 2017Why car parking has become more important for liveaboards
Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017Please respond to Mead Lane consultation below
As liveaboard boaters without home moorings are being unlawfully forced by CRT to travel longer distances to avoid having our homes seized and removed, many of us have also been forced to use cars to get to work and take children to school, when previously we could rely on cycling and public transport. Many are now having to travel to work or school from places that are much further away, including rural Wiltshire and Berkshire, where public transport is poor or non-existent.
