BaNES agrees to meet liveaboards and launches survey of boaters’ needs

CRT moorings consultation sparks angry petition

CRT is holding another consultation on methods for allocation of its directly managed moorings, but despite the previous consultation in 2008 showing overwhelming opposition to the principle of an auction system, it is refusing to even consider abandoning the auctions. In addition, the consultation only runs for one month, in contravention of the law on consultations. If you oppose the mooring auctions, please respond to the consultation before 3rd November expressing your opposition. Send your response to mooring.updates@canalrivertrust.org.uk. CRT ‘places’ maps were leaked

A Freedom of Information (FOI) request has confirmed the suspicions of many that CRT had not intended to publish the ‘places’ maps in August. Boaters who wanted to find out more were nonplussed by the absence of announcements on the CRT web site.

How much has Sally Ash cost boaters?

Sally Ash, the unpopular Head of Boating, finally retires at the end of this month after 38 years working for BW and CRT. She joined BW as a researcher in 1976 following a Masters degree at Reading University. Another local government report condemns CRT’s treatment of liveaboards without moorings

This time it’s the London Assembly, which held an inquiry into boats and mooring on London’s waterways earlier this year. The report, published last week, condemns CRT for its failure to provide adequate water, sanitary and rubbish disposal facilities for the increased number of liveaboard boaters without home moorings in London.
