Free First Aid course for boaters, March 5th, Bathampton

There will be another free First Aid course for boaters on Saturday 5th March at 1pm to 2.30pm at Bathampton Village Hall (by the shops). The course is run by the Red Cross. Tea, coffee, juice and biscuits will be provided. The course has been organised by the Travelling Community Support Service at Julian House.

Boat Fire Safety talk, Bedwyn, 18th January

There will be a boat fire safety talk on 18th January in Great Bedwyn. There was another fatal boat fire on the K&A last week – please come along and make sure your boat is as fire safe as possible.

There will be a presentation and question and answer session on boat fire safety by Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service on Monday 16th November at 7.30pm at the Bridge Inn, Horton Rd, Devizes SN10 1LD. All boaters are welcome.

BaNES towpath consultation deadline is 11th September

The deadline for the consultation about BaNES Council’s plans to upgrade the towpath along the K&A between Sydney Gardens and Bathampton is 11th September. Following pressure from local residents, towpath users and some boaters, BaNES Council is holding two public consultation sessions on 28th and 29th August regarding its plans to upgrade the towpath along the Kennet & Avon Canal between Sydney Gardens and Bathampton.

Two boatloads of drunk stag partygoers had their holiday terminated early by Oxfordshire Narrowboats last weekend. The boats were taken back on Saturday following numerous complaints about their behaviour.

A hire boat has sunk in lock 11 in the Bath flight and locks 7 to 11 are now closed until at least Tuesday.
