Hire company recalls stag party boats

Two boatloads of drunk stag partygoers had their holiday terminated early by Oxfordshire Narrowboats last weekend. The boats were taken back on Saturday following numerous complaints about their behaviour.

CRT web site misleads the public again about continuous cruising

Sally Ash has posted a new article on CRT’s web site that seeks to discourage people from exercising the right to live on a boat without a home mooring that all CRT licence holders enjoy. “Spreading the word about the demands of living afloat” misinforms people, saying that the law does not allow them to “simply to move around within a small area” and blames continuous cruisers for spoiling everybody’s enjoyment of the waterways.

Hire boats burgled at Avoncliff

Saturday, March 30th, 2013

Two Oxfordshire Narrowboats hire boats were broken into at Avoncliff in the early evening after dark yesterday and valuables including laptops were stolen. The spate of boat burglaries has continued but boaters have reported more information to the police about suspicious activity along the canal.

K and A mooring strategy consultation plans changed despite BW statement

CRT’s plans for the consultation on the K and A Local Mooring Strategy have changed again. A sub-group of the Local Waterway Partnership (formerly the Partnership Board) will review the mooring strategy and will decide what consultation is required. CRT claims this sub-group will be “independent”. At the final meeting of the Local Mooring Strategy Steering Group in October 2011 it was agreed that the Local Waterway Partnership would review the mooring strategy. BW then unilaterally disbanded the Local Mooring Strategy Steering Group before its work was complete. However, at that point BW still intended to carry out a full public consultation.
