The Canal and River Trust is holding its first Annual Meeting in Birmingham on Thursday 27th September 2012 at 2pm – 4pm. All customers of the Canal and River Trust, boat licence holders and users of the waterways can attend. The K&A Boaters’ Action Group will meet next on Monday 13th August at 7.30pm in Bath. If you have time to do a bit of work over the next few months (or longer) defending our rights as liveaboards; doing constructive things like towpath tidies; engaging in dialogue with CRT/BW, etc, then we would like you to be in the group.
Several boaters attended the Kennet and Avon User Group meeting on May 3rd and among other information, found out that temporary facilities at Dundas would be installed on May 14th; that drought restrictions are still in force, and that the Local Mooring Strategy proposals were due to be reviewed by the Local Waterway Partnership. Low Impact Life Onboard (LILO) is hosting a Spring Gathering of Boaters near Pewsey on the Kennet & Avon. All boaters are welcome . It’ll be an informal affair – a chance for boaters to share news and skills. There will be plenty of camping space available for those who decide not to bring their boats to the gathering. The next Kennet and Avon User Group Meeting will take place on Thursday 20 October 2011 at 7pm to 9pm at the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Offices, The Wharf, Devizes SN10 1EB. It is a public meeting and all users of the canal can attend. The BW Annual General Meeting is on Thursday October 13th at The Bond Company, 180 -182 Fazeley Street, Digbeth, Birmingham B5 5SE at 10.30am to 3.30pm. BW is a public body and members of the public are entitled to go. You don’t have to be a representative of an organisation. This year’s meeting will be an opportunity to ask the Transition Trustees questions, for example how the new waterways charity proposes to safeguard the rights of liveaboard boaters and protect them from unlawful enforcement, summary eviction and homelessness.
