101 Non-Emergency Police Calls Free as of 1st April

The Home Office announced recently that the charge for calling the police non-emergency number 101 would be scrapped from 1st April 2020. You should now be able to call 101 free of charge.

Hire company recalls stag party boats

Two boatloads of drunk stag partygoers had their holiday terminated early by Oxfordshire Narrowboats last weekend. The boats were taken back on Saturday following numerous complaints about their behaviour.

Boat Burglary? Victim Support can provide security equipment at low cost

A boater who works for the charity Victim Support has informed us that people whose boats have been burgled can apply to Victim Support for cheap (sometimes free of charge) security equipment. This includes padlocks, bolts and personal security devices. If your boat was burgled and you need new locks or other support, contact Victim Support on 0117 947 3065.

Allan Campbell, who police sought in connection with thefts from upwards of 50 boats on the K&A and beyond earlier this year, was arrested at the end of August in Lincolnshire and then held at Melksham police station.

Ropes cut at Semington

Two boats had their ropes cut and were set adrift at Semington yesterday (8th January), probably after dark. If you saw anyone acting suspiciously, or have any information that could help to track down the culprit, please contact Wiltshire Police on 101.
